Just this side of heaven is a place called the Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of the special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigour, those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing - they each miss someone very special to them who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His or her eyes are intent; the eager body quivers. Suddenly he or she begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, legs going faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous renunion never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together... Please feel free to send us a picture and a few words about your dog, so we can add it to this page to let others know about your faithful friend.

Tilly - 4th December 2008
Tilly came into us through the Blue Cross. She was found wandering, she was about 13 years old and just wanted a quiet life now. Tilly spent most of her day sleeping in different dogs beds, and everybody shared with her! She claimed the biggest kennel because she could keep an eye on what's going on and keep warm and cosy!

Hamish - 25th November 2008
Hamish came to us as an 8 year old dog and was re-homed. He was returned to us after a couple of years and was moved into the Forever Dogs section due to his age. Hamish is now quite blind and enjoys grumbling at the other OAPs in the house. He lost his sight in the last few months and grew increasingly frail. Unfortunately he collapsed and passed away on Tuesday. Sweet dreams Hamish. From Maggie and all at Dogs Aid

Aunt Sally - 29th July 2008, Aged 15 Maggie inherited Aunt Sally 2 years ago and she has been an integral part of Dogs Aid ever since. She was a cranky old girl who would do everything her own way and would bite anyone who tried to make her do different. Aunt Sally developed a tumour over the last number of months and went down hill in the last 2 weeks. She'll rule Rainbow Bridge with an iron paw! Badly missed by Maggie and all at Dogs Aid

Judy - 17th July 2008, Aged 13 Judy lost her battle with illness today and travelled peacefully over to Rainbow Bridge. Everyone at Dogs Aid will miss Judy and her independant ways. Judy was always there first for her food and would kick any dog out of a bed so she could get in. A volunteer found her in the pound where her chances of getting out were slim. She spent most of her days sleeping in the sun or by the radiator. Hopefully Judy has found a nice sunny spot in Rainbow Bridge.
Honey - 14th February 2008, Aged 2 Honey is badly missed by her owner Holly Kenny, Holly hopes Honey is running around at full speed at Rainbow Bridge
Fraiser - May 2008, Aged 9 Fraiser lived with Blondie at the entrance to the Sanctuary and pretended to be our guard dog! He was recently diagnosed with bone cancer and unfortunatly took a bad turn for the worse suddenly. He's now fit and healthy at Rainbow Bridge and is badly missed by Blondie and all the volunteers at Dogs Aid

Roxy - May 2008, Aged 14 Roxy wasn't a Dogs Aid dog but was rescued from a shopping trolley. She lived life her own way and was stubburn to the last. She's badly missed by Aine, Nuala, Cian and Maureen and all her friends in Loughshinny. Roxy has joined Roisin at Rainbow Bridge and is finally home again. Sleep well. xxx

Patch - February 2007 We got Patch from Dogs Aid in October 1994. Unfortunatly she had to be put down because she had cancer, we were devestated as she was an extremely important member of our family but we were glad to be with her at the end. She is sadly missed but we have wonderful memories of her 13 years with us. Many thanks, The Molloy family
 Pippy - August 2007
Sweet Pippy, you will be missed by Maggie all the volunteers at Dogs Aid, the sanctuary won't be the same without you

Sparkey - September 2004 Sparkeys kidneys were not the best and even though we had a few scares in the past, he always came around, but not this time, I guess he has ben through a lot for a little chap. He broke his back in a road traffic accident and lost the use of his back legs, and was also incontinent. We got him a cart from America so he could get around, and with the excellent care Maggie gave him he lived another six years. We will miss you little man, flying around the place like you hadnt a care in the world, a little dog with a huge heart
Millie - February 2004 Forever Dog Millie has gone to Rainbow Bridge, her health has deteriorated due to her old age
Honey - December 2003 Honey was found straying on the M50 and no-one claimed her, she was only a forever dog for a short time
June 2003 My dog was so beautiful, but she wouldnt hurt a fly, and she loved to go after fluffy toys and golf balls. I miss her so much. I never forget the day I had to put her to sleep, it broke my heart, but she lived to 13 so I'm thankful for all the memories. Mary Smith
Henry - November 2003 Henry was an elderly Cairn Terrier cross, who was found tied to a tree in a secluded wood. No-one came to claim him so he joined the Forever Dogs in the house. He was very gentle and friendly but obviously too old for his previous owner
Lovechild - July 2003 'Anndale Arhys at Tagnrye' Cd Ex Lovechild went to sleep peacefully in my arms on sunday after he lost his fight to a brain tumour. He earned his name Lovechild as a result of his escapades both inside and outside of the ring - believe me it suited him well. The void he has left is unbearably painful and everywhere is so quiet. I have to smile though at the thought of him at Rainbow Bridge - when he arrives they wont know what him them - so Be Afraid, Be Very Afraid, Lovechild is on his way!! Sleep well, we miss you, Lots of love, Mum, Prudence and Logan
