A new low: Thieves & Scammers target Dogs Aid. Print E-mail

Criminals these days seem to have sunk to a new low and are now targetting animal charities.

Thieves:

As you know we recently left our old sanctuary and moved into a new temporary sanctuary while we wait for our permanent sanctuary to be built.  Well unfortunately thieves broke into the old sanctuary last week and stole a lot of old fencing we had that was awaiting transport to the new site.  They also pulled out the old range stove, destroying the place in the process.  All of this stuff was very old and won't have much of a resale value (if any!), but we haven't got the funds to replace it so it is a real kick in the teeth for us.  You would imagine that old junk belonging to a charity would be out of bounds for thieves but it appears not.  Hope it brings them nothing but misery.

Scammers:

On a happier note we were not sucked in by the scamming attempt we received this morning:

Sounds too good to be true?  That's because it is.  A quick google search revealed this email has been around for a while.  It seems to have been originally sent by supposed vet Sarah Collins, but now there is a spate of emails coming from this mythical Dr. Christie Darryl.   Since this van has been offered to people all around the world, from Californian vets to Lebanese Animal Charities we can only assume it is some kick-ass combination of Dr. Who's Tardis & the A-Team van.

Not very likely, is it?

Hopefully us posting this will help other charities realise it is a scam.

(PS:  Amusingly in the original email Dr. Sarah Collins gives her credentials as B.S., Veterinary Science.  "B.S." sounds about right to us...)
